Thermostat Questions
Thermostat FAQ
Will a smart thermostat work with my HVAC system?
Most modern systems are compatible, but heat pumps, multi-stage furnaces, and dual-fuel systems need specific thermostats. We check compatibility before recommending — no point installing a thermostat that can't control your system properly.
What is a C-wire and do I need one?
The C-wire ("common wire") provides continuous power to your thermostat — required by most smart thermostats. Many older homes don't have one. We pull a new C-wire or install a power adapter as part of the smart-thermostat install.
How much can a smart thermostat actually save me?
Most Gwinnett County homeowners see 10–15% lower heating and cooling bills after a smart thermostat is set up correctly with proper schedules and learning. The unit usually pays for itself within a year or two.
Can you fix my old thermostat instead of replacing it?
Sometimes the fix is just a wiring problem or dead batteries — and we'll tell you that. But if the thermostat itself is failing, replacement is usually cheaper than a service call plus repair. We'll give you the honest call either way.
