What We Fix
Common duct problems we solve
The leaks that quietly kill your comfort and inflate your power bill.
Leaky seams & joints
Old tape fails, joints separate, conditioned air leaks into the attic. We mastic-seal every connection — far longer-lasting than tape.
Disconnected boots
The boot (where the duct meets the register) drops loose all the time — especially in crawlspaces. Easy fix once you find it.
Crushed flex duct
Something pushed on the run and choked the airflow. We replace the crushed section and re-suspend it properly.
Damaged insulation
Bare sheet metal in a 140°F attic loses massive amounts of heat. We patch or wrap to bring R-value back to spec.
Plenum leaks
The plenum (right at the air handler) is the worst place to leak — it's the highest-pressure point. Mastic-sealed thoroughly.
Static pressure verification
After repairs, we measure static pressure to confirm the system is breathing right. Numbers in spec = airflow restored.
Duct Repair Questions
Duct repair FAQ
How do I know my ducts are leaking?
Signs: rooms that are always too hot or cold, dust around registers, power bills creeping up year over year, system running constantly but not keeping up. Most older homes have at least some duct leakage.
Mastic vs tape — what's the difference?
Duct tape fails in attic heat — the adhesive dries out and peels off in 2–3 years. Mastic is a paint-on sealant that stays flexible and bonds permanently. We use mastic exclusively at joints.
How much does duct repair cost?
Flat per-repair pricing. A loose boot or two-joint seal is inexpensive. Full attic mastic seal of a leaky system is bigger — we walk you through what we find and let you choose scope.
When is repair not enough?
When the duct is rotted, crushed beyond patching, or significantly undersized for the system. At that point you're better off with new ductwork — we'll tell you when that's the case.
Will sealing ducts actually lower my power bill?
Almost always. If you're leaking 25% of your conditioned air into the attic, sealing returns that air to the rooms you're paying to condition. Most homeowners see noticeable changes the first month.
